Privacy

Last updated 2026-07-26

FoodStorageCheck is a reference site. It works without accounts, and it is built to collect as little as possible.

What we collect

  • No accounts, no forms. The site has no sign-up, login, or comment features.
  • Searches stay in your browser. The food search runs entirely on your device against a downloaded index; queries are not sent to a server.
  • Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard request logs (IP address, URL, user agent) for security and reliability. We do not use them to identify visitors.
  • Analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics, a cookieless, aggregate measurement tool: it counts page views and referrers without advertising identifiers, cross-site tracking, or personal profiles. Visitors are counted by a short-lived anonymous hash that cannot be linked back to you. We also use Google Analytics 4 for aggregate acquisition and page-performance reporting. Google signals and advertising personalization are disabled; Google Analytics may use first-party measurement cookies according to your browser settings.

Cookies and local storage

The site does not set advertising cookies. Google Analytics may set first-party measurement cookies. Your browser may cache data files (like the search index) for speed, and the optional My kitchentracker saves your list in your browser's local storage. That data never leaves your device, and clearing your browser data removes it.

Third parties

Pages link to official government resources (data.gov, FoodSafety.gov). Those sites have their own privacy policies. We embed nothing from ad networks or social platforms.
